Meat-free meals are fast becoming a popular dining choice when eating out among many Singaporeans. Many restaurants, coffee shops and hawker centres here offer a wide variety of vegetarian delicacies. Meatless Movement recently asked Koon Lin from Singapore🇸🇬, an avid vegetarian food blogger, to recommend her favourite meatless eating places when eating out.

Being a vegetarian since young, Koon Lin actively shares vegetarian/vegetarian-friendly eateries on Instagram and Facebook hoping to promote a meatless diet to more people by proving that vegetarian diet is not “boring” or “difficult to find food outside” like what many says.

If you are still undecided on where to eat or don’t know what you want to eat, check out Koon Lin’s reviews of the trending vegetarian and vegan restaurants.

Hvala

When you’re craving for both waffles and mochi, get Hvala’s

🧇 Dairy-free Mochi Waffles (Vegan)- $12.90++

Comes with a scoop of either oatmilk or matcha °1 gelato which I opted for the latter; bittersweet but you could opt for more intense matcha with a top up. Warm, cripsy exterior, fluffy and chewy inside. Was expecting milky colour mochi but it’s brown😂 just like the warabi mochi. Drizzled with maple syrup which made it even sweeter. Overall was a little too sweet for me but eating it together with the matcha ice cream does help to tone the sweetness level down by abit.

Will go back to try their other desserts🤤 one day.

airy-free Mochi Waffles (Vegan)-
airy-free Mochi Waffles (Vegan)-

🖤 Vegan Mont Noir- $8.90++

Strong and nutty black sesame flavour, not too sweet 💯 cream in the middle is just right, to balance out the rich flavours. Love this!

VeganBurg

Been many years since I ate at @veganburgsg so wanted to eat there again with my family for dinner.

🦀Chili Krab Burger- $11.90⁣

This is OUR FAVOURITE 💯 konjac patty with chili crab sauce, mum said the sauce tastes legit like the real one! We even ordered one more of this after trying all 3 burgers.😋⁣

🍄Creamy Shrooms Burger- $9.90⁣

Love how well the soy patty goes so well with the cream and mushroom! You won’t go wrong with this!😉⁣

🥑Avocado Beetroot Burger- $11.90⁣

At first I thought it was homemade avocado beetroot patty 😂 but turns out it was just soy patty with avocado and beetroot.

👵🏻Granny’s Comfort Soup- $5.90⁣

It’s like minestrone soup, to me it’s quite overpriced for that small portion but it does taste comforting on a rainy day🌧

🥦Sizzlin’ Broccoli- $2.90⁣

Honestly it’s just blanched(?) broccoli with butter, wouldn’t order this again because we find it really overpriced 😐⁣

Other than the Chili Krab Burger, the rest wasn’t very special because the same soy patty is used, only with different sauces and ingredients. Also, many said that the burger is quite big but all of us didn’t feel full and I think I could easily eat 2 😅 Maybe we’re just big eaters? 🤔 If you’ve tried VeganBurg, what’s your opinion? ⁣

Might go back for their seasonal burgers or Shroom Pops too! 😝⁣

Real Food

Had a hard time choosing between their signature handmade dumplings and risotto 😂 ⁣

🥟 Dumpling Noodles Dry- $11.80++⁣

Chewy organic noodles with 6 pcs of signature handmade dumplings. Skin is not too thick, just nice to encase the generous amount (see photo) of carrots, mushroom, veggies, etc 😋 ⁣

The Boneless Kitchen⁣

The last time I visited here was probably years ago when they were new. I have since been wanting to come here for sooo long. Finally found time to eat here with mum on my off day last week! ⁣🇰🇷👭

🍝 Jajangmyeon- $10.90⁣

Tried many vegetarian jajangmyeon at different eateries and I haven’t found one that’s ideal. Be it the soupy sauce or unctuous gravy, the ones I ate were full of mock meats and didn’t taste right at all. So I really wanted to try it at @bonelesskitchen because judging by its appearance, it looks really tempting. And it really is!💯 Thick savoury black bean sauce over thick, chewy noodles. So happy and surprised that generous amount of potato, radish, carrots and eggplant were given instead of mock meats! 🥕🥔🍆 Ideal for those who like intensely flavoured and tangy Korean dishes! ⁣

🍙 Kimbap- $9.90⁣

Read so many good reviews on this so decided to get this side dish to share. Just look at the generous ingredients😍 vegetarian ham, cheese, egg, pickles, cucumber, carrot and veggie wrapped with rice and seaweed! Vegetarian ham made the kimbap taste excessively salty but other ingredients helped neutralise it😋 my mum was so happy we chose this side dish since it’s portioned nicely and not too oily👍🏻⁣for the both of us.

Soondubu Jjigae w/ Seaweed Flakes Korean Purple Rice- $13.90 (added $1 for seaweed flakes rice)⁣

Mummy ordered this and she said its so comforting to have this warm soup on a rainy day🌧😌 I like the slightly spicy soup too thanks to the abundance of silken tofu ✌🏻but we both felt that it would be perfect had it been little more sour to bring out the flavour of kimchi.

⁣Best of all, @bonelesskitchen has no GST and service charge! Wanna try their Japchae the next time round 🤤 ⁣

Ambience is quite nice but we kept smelling the odour of cigarette smoke from the kitchen. I am pretty sure it wasn’t the smell of smoke from cooking. I really hope that no one was puffing away in the kitchen while working. 🚭

Casserole @ Shangri-la Rasa Sentosa

🥳 The first dedicated meat alternative restaurant in a Singapore hotel, a dining experience that’ll definitely change your perception of vegetarian and vegan food! Featuring brands like Impossible Foods, OnlyEg, Arlene, Green Rebel Foods, KARANA and more!

🌿 One thing that stands out is that they 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒔 like mint, rosemary, etc in their outdoor mini garden and indoor mini hydroponics to use in their dishes.

Had the opportunity to get a taste of some of their many delicious and interesting dishes during their pre-opening tasting.

Starters:

🐟 Flaked Tuna Nicoise Salad (Vegan)

Confit Provencal Vegetables, Kalamata Olive Tapenade, @onlyeg.sg Shredded Egg, Oven Roasted Potato, Piquillo Pepper Dressing
This is plated so beautifully😍 (see photos) and all the ingredients complemented one another very well. Must say the 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒚 𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒂 tasted similar to the real thing, even though without the strong fishy taste.

🧆 Middle Eastern Spiced Kebab and Falafel @arlene.world

Kebab, Falafel and Kibbeh with Hummus, Beetroot Dip, Broiled Eggplant and Warm Pita Bread
Love Middle Eastern cuisine so this is one of my favourites especially the kibbeh!! 𝑭𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒍 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, so crispy outside. 💯

Love how 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕 the rice is!!

Absolutely love this, so 𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒉 and 𝒇𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒚 🌟

𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒍 and 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 dessert, coconut sorbet is 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌 and 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒚 🍨

Yes Natural 悦意⁣

🍝Almond Noodle- $7⁣

Dinner at @yesnaturalsingapore yesterday for mum’s birthday! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Took some quick shots because my family can’t wait to dig in, no time for me to take pictures🤣⁣ at my own pace.

Aa a fan of nut butters, this is my confirmed order item whenever I visit Yes Natural 🤩 Generous amount of almond sauce with fresh veggies. 💯 My mum and brother found it a bit ‘jelat’ after eating a few spoons though, so I think it’ll be good to share with someone if you’re not a big fan of nut butters (see close-up photo below😕)⁣

🥙Pocket Salad- $7⁣

Mum’s favourite! We actually came here because she wanted to eat this 😂 Alfalfa, sprouts🌱, cucumber🥒, tomato🍅 and “ham” in wholemeal pita pocket with vegan mayonnaise dressing😋 ordered 2 servings hehe⁣

🥗Sushi Roll Salad- $7⁣

Mixed shredded veggies wrapped in seaweed. Personally prefer warm dishes so I didn’t really enjoy this (or maybe because I was already feeling cold from yesterday🤔) but it’ll be weird if this is warm😂⁣. I think I’m confused.

🍆Cereal Eggplant- $9⁣

It’s a new dish I think? Piqued our interest because it’s quite unique🤨 Fried and seasoned till perfection but there’s only a thin slice of eggplant. 😐 It’s hollow when I bit into it, batter to eggplant ratio is around 8:2(?), cereal goes well with rice though! My brother loves this dish.

🌶Sambal Petai- $15 (small)⁣

Sign up us a member and you can get $20 off min spend of $50 on your birthday month! 😉🎂

The Kind Bowl – Killiney

Rarely eat Vietnamese cuisines as most eateries I found here do not have vegetarian option so i was delighted when I heard about a vegetarian Vietnamese café in Singapore! Finally went to @thekindbowl_sg on my off day and was surprised that it is already packed with people at 11+am. Ordered the following items🤤⁣⁣

🍢 BBQ Delight- $12.80⁣

Dry vermicelli with shredded carrots and cucumbers, BBQ stick (beancurd skin, mushroom, potato) and fried mushroom “meat” rolls. Love the BBQ stick but its quite oily especially the beancurd skin. Still not a fan of fried stuffs😅 Other than that, yummy meal sprinkled with crushed peanuts, paired with refreshing spicy sweet sauce! 😋⁣

🍜The Kind Pho- $8.80⁣⁣

Filled with oyster mushrooms🍄 and shredded “chicken” seitan, topped with fresh herbs! 🌿Love this just that the soup is a little too salty for my taste⁣⁣.

🌯Summer Roll- $2.80⁣⁣

Love the chewy QQ skin with seitan, tofu, veggies and herbs. SUPER LOVE the peanut sauce that comes with it 😋👍🏻 ⁣.

Definitely will go back to try other items on the menu! 🤤⁣⁣. Items can be made alliums free too, just remember to inform the restaurant when ordering😉⁣⁣.

Lilac Oak

Popped by @lilac.oak for a late lunch since it was my half-day off. Been super long since I walked around and took time to enjoy my meal. Walked from my workplace in Orchard to the cafe. I am used to take short distance walks like this, walking from one MRT station to the next when exploring cafes (slowly walk and digest HAHA). @lilac.oak is a cafe located in Dhoby Ghaut offering fully vegan mains, bakes and drinks and I tried something from all the 3 categories hehe🤭

🍵 Matcha Oat Latte- $7+

Made using @naokimatcha’s Barista Blend matcha powder and @oatly oat milk, they blend harmoniously creating a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with rich matcha taste. As usual, I opted for the hot unsweetened option which elevates the earthiness of the matcha. Being a HUGE pure matcha fan, I can vouch that the matcha powder used is of 💯 premium quality here, perfect for matcha lovers! They also offer sweetened and iced versions for those who prefer a milder matcha taste.

🍲 House-special Bibimbap w/ Sweet Potato Rice- $14.90+

They thought I wanted to takeaway so it was served in a container instead but that’s okay. Vegetables, tofu, mushrooms and homemade vegan kimchi on their special sweet potato brown rice with housemade gochujang! I like how they’re using those japanese short grain type of rice so it’s sticky and chewy, there’s a few sweet potatoes as u dig thru the rice👀 I just hope that there’s more ingredients to go with the rice😅

🥧 Taro Tart- $4.50+

Taro paste is SO SMOOTH and thick and not too sweet, you can appreciate the natural taste of yam. I don’t know if it’s just me but there’s a hint of coconut taste which makes the paste creamier and I like it though. Topped with a ginkgo nut, it’s like a less sweet ‘orh nee‘ in a buttery, biscuity tart! 😋

Special mention to one of the staff there (I forgot to get her name) for being so attentive and service orientated👍🏻She helped me move the chair beside me so I could put my bag instead of placing it on my lap and always kept a lookout if I needed anything even when she’s having her lunch. Friendly and cosy vibes here!🥰

Thank you @naokimatcha.cafe and @naokimatcha for the invite and @lilac.oak for hosting!❤

Privé (Paragon)

Saw @theprivegroup’s Japanese TiNDLE Katsu Curry on @abillion 50 Best Vegan Dishes in Singapore andwent to their Paragon outlet to try during my lunch break. Privé Paragon has both indoor and outdoor sitting avail and I chose the latter since the weather was less sunny that day⛅

🍛 Japanese TiNDLE! Katsu Curry- $19++

My first time trying TiNDLE! chicken🐥 after wanting to try it for so long. Katsu has a cripsy exterior with soft and juicy “meat” inside which took me by surprise because, to be honest, I was expecting it to be slightly firmer and dryer. Texture wise very similar to chicken nuggets, tastes good too (can taste soy so it’s not scarily real)😋. Brown rice was abit hard but maybe it’s a one off thing, wished there was more curry. Love the refreshing salsa side though! The star is definitely the TiNDLE katsu, I’m already craving for it!!🤤

I’ve also left a review on @abillion app as linfoodhunts, do check it out! You can review vegan dishes you’ve tried on @abillion app too as every in-app review means $1 will be donated to one of the 64 causes such as Share the Meal, Animals Now, Surge and many more!❤
