Hong Kong has many delicious vegan-friendly restaurants to offer and here are some of my favorites!
My name is Sasha and I am an undergraduate student studying in Hong Kong. I’ve been exploring and documenting vegan-friendly eateries on my Instagram page @hkfoodieplate for the past two years or so! I am pleased to share some of the most memorable spots for me:
Bijas Vegetarian Restaurant
“Bijas” is a Buddhist restaurant situated on the HKU campus offering a Mindful Buffet and a DIY Veggie Combo for lunch and dinner, as well as a Tea Set with various dim sums of your choice during tea time.
I frequent this restaurant the most since it is located on my university campus, and is an incredibly healthy, convenient, and affordable place.
I have tried all of the options available at Bijas and can comfortably recommend the establishment (although the buffet takes the lead for me)!

Paradise Veggie Buffet
“Paradise Veggie Buffet” is the ultimate buffet; this establishment strives to impress you with all the possible mock-dish variations, including octopus balls, calamari, skewers, pork, cutlets, sushi, and more!
This restaurant offers a mouth-watering array of foods – starting with the beautiful salad bar, extending to the fried section, and finishing strong with desserts!
I strongly recommend visiting it during the lunch or even tea time hours, as it is significantly more affordable (although the dinner buffet offers more variety, in my opinion it does not justify the jump in price).

Three Virtues
Three Virtues is another wonderful establishment that has helped me impress many non-veggie friends over the past few years. The restaurant greets you with a takeaway stall offering several dim sums, however, Three Virtues has a lot more to offer for dine-in!
In the morning, one can enjoy items such as Xialongbao, shrimp rice rolls, char siu baos, and more! The dinner items do not disappoint either – Pan fried seaweed pancakes; Monkey head mushroom and strawberry in sweet and sour sauce; Deep fried French style mango and vegetarian seafood rolls; Pine nuts, minced vegetarian meat, mushrooms, and water chestnuts, with lettuce wrapping; Sautéed eggplants with mushroom and asparagus are just some of the items which I have tried (and that are also pictured).
Three Virtues is a great place to visit if you want to indulge in Hong Kong cuisine while respecting a vegan diet.

Samsen
Samsen is a Thai restaurant you can enjoy with your veggie and non-veggie friends! It offers an extensive list of plant-based dishes and is very accommodating to the vegan diet, happily omitting eggs per request.
Although this establishment is on the pricier side, it is one that I wouldn’t skip when exploring a different type of cuisine that Hong Kong has to offer!

Tin Tin Vegetarian
This was the restaurant that introduced me to the world of vegan Hong Kong cuisine!
Tin Tin Vegetarian has multiple locations around Hong Kong, though I exclusively visit their Tin Hau branch. The establishment has very affordable local Hong Kong snacks, which are both delicious and filling (so you’ll need to make a few visits in order to properly enjoy all of their food, without getting too full).
I personally love its glutinous platter and think that it has the best marinade in comparison to all of the other establishments in Hong Kong. Additionally, Tin Tin has items like glutinous dumplings, sausage rolls, fried flakey taro, taro cakes, mock meat rolls, and more! Other than their snacks, they also offer rice and noodle-based dishes, although I have yet to try those!
Highly recommend for everyone to try Tin Tin Vegetarian – they have been around since 1991 and are certainly experts in the local vegetarian/ vegan cuisine.
