Please tell us more about yourself
Hi! My name’s Lily, I’m from Taiwan, a violin teacher who loves cooking. I think cooking is very similar to making music, it can be beautiful and bring joy to the soul. I enjoy interpreting the delicious dishes that I imagine in my mind. Recently, I moved to Arizona, USA, and I like to share my daily life with social media.
I decided to become a vegetarian in 2006 and turn to vegan in 2008 about 17 years. I’m influenced by my Mom who led me on a journey of self-discovery. every landscape that I touched became my belief and life value. Once I was convinced in my mind, I could no longer considered meat as a food.
I don’t want to take anything from animals, such as milk, eggs, honey, or even their right to live. As a vegan, I believe that all beliefs stem from love. In order to grow up my benevolent heart, I choose to take peaceful diet, because I believe that our lives will become more peaceful without fear or anxiety when we practice simple acts like this.
I think most people can accept vegans and respect their choices, but I still hear some people say ‘Plants are also living beings.’ Of course! plants are alive, and people who love plants must agree with this as they bring so much healing power to our life! Some of plants are full of vitality, they can grow just by giving them a little water, and even if they are cut off, they will reborn ; Opposite, animals cannot. A chicken has only two legs, so if I took my class to a fried chicken restaurant for a gathering, then 15 chickens would be sacrificed for that one meal. I have struggled with this, but of course, I cannot choose to do so.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to transition to a meatless diet?
People loves delicious food, we can definitely do it without compromising our beliefs, to find a good restaurant or make your own meals, remember why you’re making this change and keep yourself motivated, also connect with other vegans for support. However, everyone has their own destiny, we should try to find the strength to persevere.

I believe that all faith comes from love, and I need to practice giving love to things every day, that unconditional “true love”. How can we practice it more simply? By nourishing and feeding our souls through a peaceful diet. At least, that’s what I do, without any fear or apprehension. Our lives will also be more peaceful because of it.
