Tell us more about yourself, please
Hello, my name is Arielle and I am a vegan and eco-conscious content creator and blogger based in New York City. I love traveling and living a wellness-focused lifestyle.
I have been vegan since 2017. I never liked the idea of eating animals, but once I started finding out about the cruelty that is involved in the meat industry, I could no longer turn a blind eye.
Traveling since going vegan has been interesting! Especially visiting my father’s home country, Lebanon.
I never knew how many traditional dishes were either “accidentally vegan” or extremely easy to make vegan. I think that it’s given me a whole new appreciation for food and flavors. Every time I visit a new country, I try my best to seek out “veganized” versions of traditional dishes.
Living here in New York City, I don’t usually have any difficulties with finding vegan food, and I recognize how lucky I am because of this.
Sometimes it can be a bit more difficult while traveling, but when I do so, I always try to plan ahead by having snacks on hand and researching restaurant options at my destination.
I feel great being vegan! As someone who really tries to live a life that is aligned with my values, I’m so grateful for how easy it is to be vegan these days. Especially living in a city like New York with so many amazing vegan restaurants!
How would you tell someone who’s not yet vegan to try meatless food?
When trying to get someone to try vegan food, I start by asking them what their favorite type of cuisine is. Then I find a restaurant for us to eat at from there. I find that people are more open to trying vegan versions of food they’re already familiar with and love.
I think there are a lot of misconceptions that if you’re vegan, all you eat is vegetables and you don’t get enough protein and other nutrients. I love showing off the wide variety of foods that vegans can eat via my blog and social media platforms. And for those who are truly concerned about my health, I politely let them know that according to my doctor and bloodwork, I’m currently the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life.
First off, I congratulate and encourage them because positive reinforcement goes a long way! I let them know that I am open to helping out with suggestions and recommendations. I also love inviting them to my favorite vegan restaurants or encouraging them to look for places to try in their area. I think it’s important for newly meatless people to try a variety of different foods so they can get an idea of what they like and don’t feel like they’re overly limited.
I’m so grateful for the fact that becoming vegan or vegetarian is so popular these days! It’s amazing that you can now find versions of anything vegan and/or meatless, from burgers and burritos to sushi and caviar. If you’re looking for any food or restaurant recommendations, please feel free to check out my blog or shoot me a quick DM on Instagram! Thank you so much to Meatless Movement for choosing to interview me!
