Please tell us more about yourself
My name is Cristina Ley. I’m Mexican.
I´m 42 years old but sincerely I feel like I´m 28, and here´s why:
In the past I used to be always getting a bloated stomach after eating, having horrible migraines, nauseas, unbearable menstrual cramps and not feeling like myself.
Then fortunately or unfortunately, I started to develop Vitiligo on my hands specifically on my fingers. So I went to see a Homeopathic Doctor. However, I do not wish to become too dependent on medication. Somehow, something in my gut told me that medication is not the way to solve my problem!
I was very blessed because the Doctor is a vegetarian himself, so he treated my issue with a change diet, and natural drops for about two weeks.
And I want a say that the first week was hard. I was not used to the fact that I couldn’t eat processed food, fried stuff, and so on.. but then I started to feel so good, lost weight and that inspired me to keep going. After just a month of treatment, I felt with so much energy, alive, and all my health issues disappeared like Magic.
I already was using only Cruelty Free Products like skincare, makeup, personal and such. I have a Youtube channel featuring “Not tested on Animals” reviews, and Instagram too before the treatment. And hence I was really enjoying so much during my transition to a cleaner diet.
Then I started to watch Documentaries like Cowspiracy, What the health….and began to do more research about Vegetarians.
But my real inspiration was DR. MICHAEL GREGER for Nutrition and DR. JOE DISPENZA, for working on my personal growth. I wish to thank both of them with all my heart. Not to mention that my husband subscribed to GAIA and the resources I got from the channel are amazing.
So, like nothing 4 months of that lifestyle went too quickly, and I felt so great that I kept going.
I started doing Yoga, Cross Fit, Zumba and suddenly I was a new person. I love to cook so I won’t deny I tried thousands of healthier recipes from Pinterest and Youtube.
Initially, I struggled a little bit in my town with restaurants, as I was the only one eating plant based among my friends. I am glad that my husband was very respectful and fully understood my sensibility for animals. After a while, I have stopped caring so much about what other people think of my choice.
Whenever I was invited to parties I would always eat a little something before I leave the house so I don’t go hungry. If the host didn’t know, and all the food contained animal products, I’d simply not eat. If the host provided “healthy options,” like French fries or mushrooms, guacamole or chips, it’s a nice surprise.
Well, then life is so awesome that I found a Facebook group in my town with like 20 people who are vegan. So I got myself involved in vegan activism, and we helped each other with tips and guidance about veganism. I felt I found my tribe, and was very happy to have potlucks with them.
Well, after getting through the past health issues with success now I found myself on a meatless diet for the animals primarily. Their lives is the only thing that they have so why I would take them away from them? There are thousands of options and substitutes. I am still able to eat all the delicious foods I love without guilt.
I got to say I felt very lucky to live near the Border with California so the options were a lot. In addition, started to eat foods that I would never tried if not for my vegan diet.
I feel AMAZING! People around me are full of compliments all the time! You look radiant and I never felt this EXTRAORDINARY before, not even during my childhood days. So nothing would stop me now! I am on fire!!
I began with being a Pescatarian, to Vegetarian, and one day decided to try VEGANISM. I told myself, being vegan will not make me depressed or stressed. If I can’t transit smoothly to becoming a vegan, at least I am still a vegetarian. To my surprise, I never turn back. I want to remain vegan for the rest of my life. I feel great and awakening to the complete physical empowerment and energy, how could this be possible?
So of course I kept eating Vegan, and now it´s 7 years almost 8 years, and I still feel AMAZING! The secret? It’s all about a balanced diet and changing eating habits by ditching unhealthy food for a healthy eating routine. I try to limit my intake of burgers, ice cream, cookies, cakes, etc to only once a week.
Now, I´m living in The Beautiful RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO, and I am pleasantly surprised at how many delicious vegan options here. Being vegan has completely changed my life, my health and it has even made me a better cook.
I joined 4 whatsapp groups, Mexican and a foreign one, and we share all Vegan tips. Also a Mexican Vegan Bike group which is an amazing one, where we go to Cenotes and do Potlucks too.
I can´t be more Happy in my LIFE.
I feel very BLESSED and Lucky!
I practice visualization every single day and manifest being in this kind of Lifestyle.
I´m surrounded with only positive and good-hearted people.
At my almost 43 years I do Padlle Boarding, Mountain Bike ride, Jogg and now I´m trying skating again.
I hope my story will help you to make a decision to switch to a plant-based lifestyle. There are tons of myths about veganism, despite its growing popularity. So the key is to be educated with the correct information about the lifestyle.
I feel so blessed and full of Life, Energy and Balance, I truly and sincerely can say that never felt better! Being vegan is one of the best choices I could have ever done in my life. I’m so grateful with the universe for having excellent health, happiness and for realized that I can be the voice of animals in the fight for their rights.
Thank You!
