As a new mom (many years ago) it suddenly dawned on me how can I be eating animals who could be somebody’s baby or a mother themselves.

Like flipping a switch, I quit meat cold turkey, pun intended. Becoming vegetarian was super easy, but I never thought I could adopt veganism because I am a certified cheeseaholic. I especially love pizza.

I tried some vegan cheeses over the years and they were just not good. They have finally come such a long way with so many companies producing great plant-based versions and that is what made it easier to be vegan. I have been vegan for more than six years now and I have never felt better about myself!

Some of my favorite vegan restaurants are Planta and any of Chef Guy Vaknin’s places in NYC like Willow. I also enjoy finding vegan options in places one might not expect to see like at a steakhouse.

Simple Swaps, Vibrant Choices

Alex | Vegan Everything

An easy way to transition to vegan is by swapping out basic kitchen staples, like I love Earth Balance vegan butter and Whole Foods brand unsweetened almond milk instead of their dairy counterparts. My whole family including non-vegans now exclusively use these in my house!
