In our continued journey with Jas, she graciously accepted our invitation for a second interview, offering invaluable insights into her evolving vegan lifestyle. Reflecting on her journey since our last conversation, Jas shares her phased approach to veganism, emphasizing her transition towards whole foods and her dedication to influencing others towards meatless alternatives.
In navigating the nutritional aspects, she discusses key nutrients, opting for plant-based protein sources and fresh whole foods. Jas also delves into newfound health benefits and addresses challenges faced, particularly in a new environment.
Furthermore, she extends her advocacy beyond diet, embracing sustainable practices in fashion and skincare. Through her blog and personal example, Jas advocates for a plant-based lifestyle, emphasizing the importance of leading by example rather than enforcing beliefs onto others. For those interested in her earlier insights, you can revisit her previous interview with the Meatless Movement.
Reflecting on Your Continued Journey:
I had a phased approach into being vegan. Starting with cutting meat and cows milk. This then progressed into cutting out eggs, cheese and fish. I sometimes struggle to find food that do not contain traces of milk and these times I give myself some grace. Especially since I travel to some remote locations. But I have no intention of going back to being vegetarian.
I would also say that I am evolving to eat less processed plant based food and more whole foods. I find it gives me more energy and a higher vibration.
Navigating Nutrition and Health:
I attempt to get my protein from lentils and beans as opposed to processed plant based burgers for example.
I have recently spoken with a nutritionalist and she advised to supplement my protein with plant based powders but other than that I aim for fresh whole foods such as salads, lentils (dhaal) and occasional vegan fast food when I eat out.
Inspiring Others Through Challenges:
I have recently moved to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and at times I cannot find vegan options on the menu particularly when I’m somewhere remote. I often have to have a plate of fries but I am blogging to find more options in the region.
My decision to go vegan is aligned to my ethics therefore no matter how challenging I am committed to this purpose of mine. I strongly believe your actions and words need to be aligned meaning discipline if you want to evolve and raise the vibration of yourself and those around you.
As my late Grandad used to say through any challenge you will find a way.
Empowering Lifestyle Choices:
I attended London Fashion Week at the end of last year and opted for a sustainable pre loved outfit. Sustainability is something I’m very passionate about.
Reducing waste, reducing consumption and upcycling and recycling. I also attempt to have clean skin care where possible. Such as avoiding heavy creams and lotions and using natural oils such as almond oil on my body and rosehip oil on my face.
Advocacy and Education:
I advocate through my blog but my approach is to inspire by my actions and not enforce it on anyone. I believe we are on a journey in life to fulfil our soul mission and if you choose to see people in your life as teachers it can influence your evolution. But this is not something you can force people to do.
