Here’s her first interview
Reflecting on Your Continued Journey:
Since our last conversation, how has your vegan/vegetarian journey evolved, and what significant milestones have you reached?
A major milestone is that Vegan Hospitality (veganhospitality.com) has taken the step to transition to become a non-profit which see’s myself become one of two co-founder. We are incredibly excited about moving forward in this wat.
Inspiring Others Through Challenges:
Overcoming challenges is part of any journey. Can you share a recent challenge you faced as a vegan/vegetarian and how you managed to overcome it?
I recently stayed at a plant-based hotel but unfortunately was served honey in homemade iced tea without being aware. I provided feedback to the owner who is vegan himself & he has implemented that if they serve honey again it will be clearly labeled.
Ethical and Environmental Impact:
The ethical and environmental aspects of a meatless lifestyle are powerful motivators. How do these considerations influence your choices, and what impact do you hope to make?
These are the main reasons for me being vegan & for advocating for veganism. I hope to shift people’s mindsets from ”one person cant make a difference” to everyone collectively can make a huge difference.
Empowering Lifestyle Choices:
Beyond food, the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle extends to fashion, beauty, and more. Are there any cruelty-free brands or sustainable practices you’ve embraced and would recommend?
I only purchase vegan & cruelty free products, unfortunately these aren’t always fully eco-friendly, for example there may be a lot of plastic packaging but things are getting better. I for example only use a wooden toothbrush, reusable/washable sanitary pads & I buy very few items of clothing but when I do it is normally thrifted unless I am supporting a local independant clothing store.
Advocacy and Education:
Advocacy plays a crucial role in the meatless movement. How do you educate others about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle, and what advice do you have for effective communication?
This is a huge part of my life & I advocate both through personal connections & my social media platforms but also via my company www.wilddreams.co.za and through www.veganhospitality.com
Meatless Movement in Popular Culture:
Veganism and vegetarianism have gained visibility in sports and entertainment. Are there any notable athletes, celebrities, or cultural figures who have embraced this lifestyle that you admire?
Lewis Hamilton for sure! But, honestly all of them.
A Vision for the Future:
Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of the meatless movement? What role do you see yourself playing in its continued growth and impact?
We have big plans for Vegan Hospitality such as creating school curriculums, more conferences, courses & aligned partnerships.
