Please tell us more about yourself
I was born and raised in the UAE, with Yemeni parents, and I currently live in Dubai. My multicultural background has enriched my perspective on life and food.
As a yoga instructor, I also incorporate principles of compassion and mindfulness into my teachings, which align closely with my vegan lifestyle.
My journey began when I watched a video of a cow crying after losing her calf. That moment struck me deeply, and I decided to stop consuming meat and dairy immediately.
One of my proudest moments was helping my mom transition to a vegan lifestyle. It wasn’t easy at first, but through discussions about the ethics of our choices, she embraced it and has seen health benefits as well.
In Dubai, there are no difficulties finding vegan options. The vegan scene is thriving, with numerous restaurants and cafes offering diverse dishes. I love exploring new places and sharing recommendations with friends, encouraging them to try out vegan meals.
It’s a lifestyle that reflects my values of compassion and respect for all living beings. I always tell people to give meatless dishes a shot instead of dismissing them. Many are surprised by how flavorful and satisfying they can be!
In Dubai, I have many favorite spots like Nabati. They offer a fantastic array of plant-based dishes that are both delicious and innovative. The ambiance is welcoming, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
A common misconception is that vegan food is boring or lacks variety. I like to share that vegan dishes can be customized and diversified to reflect the flavors of any country’s cuisine.
Additionally, many vegans love to cook, experiment in the kitchen, and share a wide range of recipes online, making it accessible for non-vegans to find easy recipes to explore and enjoy. This makes every meal an exciting adventure.
Put yourself in their shoes. Reflect on how it feels to be in that position and imagine that these animals are members of your family, not just strangers. Once you feel that connection, it becomes easier to understand why change is necessary, and you’ll find yourself more open to embracing a meatless lifestyle.
As a yoga instructor, I teach the importance of compassion and kindness, which ties into my vegan beliefs. I believe that understanding our connection to all beings enriches our lives.
Veganism is not just a dietary choice; it’s a holistic approach to living in harmony with the world.
By choosing compassion, we pave the way for a healthier planet and future.
