Carla is a friend to all. Furry and feathery, scaley, young and old. Carla really comes alive when living inlignment with her true purpose.
She is a fierce defender of those weaker than herself and hates injustice. She has been known to live in the footsteps of her inner child.
“Life is a blessing” , is not a lie, but the trick is that you actually have to participate in it to experience it. And this is something that Carla tries to embrace every day.
We are all a work in progress and the journey is the point.
From an unhappy office worker, a cog just grinding away in the machine… to someone who is on the path to becoming a full participant in life and knowing herself better. Carla became a vegan nutritionist and now a vegan event caterer when discovering that you are what you eat. And the path of least harm from a diet perspective also creates an awareness towards a more connected spiritual experience in this world.
Please tell us more about yourself
Hi, my name is Carla Quinn, I am 42 , I am from South Africa … but I have been living in the UK for 18 years.
I turned vegan originally because I wanted to heal my adult acne and help address my migraine issues.
I was surprised to find that following a mostly fruit based diet to begin with really helped to heal my health issues very quickly.
The more I learned about plant based eating – the more I saw the suffering and torture the animals go through for a product none of us actually need in order to be healthy and strong.
So, I found that in the end I became vegan for the animals . I have been vegan for 15 years and am the healthiest and happiest I have ever been.
When I became vegan there really wasn’t much in the way of processed vegan foods. So I ate mostly whole foods vegan. And to this day I believe it is the healthiest way to eat . Whole foods with an emphasis of leafy greens and legumes and of course loads of fruits and veggies.
It is frustrating that people think you need to eat a “meat” substitute in order to be vegan. Or take supplements…When actually you can just eat a variety of fruits and veggies, nuts , grains, and legumes and this is the healthiest way to eat.
The only supplement I take is B12. But everyone should take a B12 supplement. We just wash all the B12 away. And even the animals are injected with B12 and are supplemented in that way.
The old clichè a lot of vegan use is the “the only regret I have is not going vegan sooner” and that is so true. And I can honestly say … that is the only regret I do have. Not going vegan sooner. If only I could turn back time!
I would love for people to eat whole foods plant based. It is the cheapest and healthiest way to eat. People should try it at least 5 days out of 7 just see see how they feel. They can even eat bigger portions as the food is lower in calories.
Home cooked meals are always the best in my opinion. There is so much vegan inspired dishes on instagram. You would never get bored.
I love vegan sushi, vegan ramen and of course vegan pierogies. There is so much option to be vegan. And no reason not to be. Just listen to Dr Micheal Greger on Nutritionfacts.org and you will hear about the one diet that can prevent and even reverse most of the diseases that are the leading killers.
If a vegan diet does nothing else except help people to be more compassionate- then that is a winner. But what a bonus it is that we can also be super healthy and be less of a strain on the environment.
