My name is Ashley, I have been gluten-free for 8 years and vegan for 4 years. I’m originally from Essex but I am now living in Birmingham.

What challenges do you face when trying to find vegan/vegetarian food or eating out with friends? How do you personally overcome these obstacles?

The biggest challenge for me is combining being vegan with also being gluten-free – Most gluten-free products have egg in! When eating out, I have previously been referred to as “fussy” and “difficult”

How would you encourage someone who hasn’t embraced a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle to give meatless food a try?

I would tell them to try a Beyond Burger – even a meat eater couldn’t argue with how good they are!

My favourite go-to meal is tofu tomato pasta – quick easy and SO tasty.

A great place for vegan food is Liverpool, I was blown away by how vegan and allergen friendly it was.

What is a common misconception surrounding veganism?

I wish I had been one the whole time!

That we don’t get enough protein or that vegan food is boring. When I started blogging I wanted to help other people who are gluten-free and vegan and show them just how tasty and fulfilling the food can be! I share my own recipe as well as reviewing my experiences in restaurants.

For someone who is embarking on a meatless journey, what advice would you give them?

Veganise your favourite meals first, it makes it feel a lot easier! Also, be prepared to make mistakes and slip up sometimes and know that it’s okay.
