Tell us more about yourself please
I was raised a vegetarian from young since 1987. My family follows a meatless lifestyle because of faith. As children, we would just listen to our parents who kept telling us that we CANNOT eat meat. We were fearful of being punished or scolded so we dared not touch meat at all; but I would confess this is a good thing after all. And to this day I’ve never had an inclination to try it.
I must admit that it was not easy when I first started. I used to be able to eat only fries at cafe and fastfood restaurants while studying with my friends. It is so different now. Being vegetarian is not as uncommon as it once was. Almost all major food chains are introducing more and more new plant-based dishes. I have no temptation to switch track at all.
You don’t need meat to enjoy food. There are plenty of great meatfree options. Vegetarian is not about all or nothing.
Why vegetarians want to eat mock meat? That is because not all vegetarians gave up meat because they hate eating them. Choosing to forego the real thing, because of their love of animals is a sacrifice for a greater cause to me.
In recent years, alternative meat products have gone mainstream. They are manufactured to appear and taste like real meat. Meat alternatives are indeed an amazing invention. You can still get to enjoy delicious and hearty meals while eating healthier, and doing more to make the world a better place.
More people are looking to adopt meatless diets for environmental reasons. People are also seeing the potential health benefits of transitioning to a meatless diet.
Going meatless can be challenging at first because there is so much to learn. Try a range of meatless recipe ideas. Explore more vegetarian places. You will soon discover that you can get all the proteins and nutrients you need from a vegetarian diet.
There is no need to be overly restrictive or go cold turkey. Be comfortable, take it slow and easy. Switch at your own pace, and enjoy the exciting journey.
Most people think that sticking to a meatless diet can be hard, which is not. It can be overwhelming for some, that I agree. It can be challenging too, especially for beginners, to maintain a well-balanced vegetarian diet that provides all the nutrients you need to stay healthy.
People often have the misconceptions that meatless diets are only about tofu and salads. And that vegetarians will have problem socialising. This is why I decided to become a vegetarian blogger. I wish to actively reach out to meat eaters in the hope that they can look at the vegetarian world positively.
