Please tell us more about yourself

My name is Chogyal Rinpoche. At the age of five, I started my monastic life in India. I spent almost 20 years in monestery learning Buddhism. And after that I went to Mt Kilash for three years and 6 months for Meditation retreat.

As a Buddhist, We believe that every sentient being has a life and right to live. We as a most intelligent animal on earth, instead of consuming them, we’ve to love and protect them.

Anyone up for cappuccino today?

B.I.A cafe

BIA mean ( Bodhisattva In Action) BIA Cafe is 100% charity project , it supports Sertshang Orphanage Hope, BIA foundation. We believe in taking actions rather than just saying with words. Our customers are also doing charity through us. For eg, every cup of coffee or meal mean getting help someone who need most help. The main objective of the cafe is to serve healthy organic foods and indirectly help who needs it most.

B.I.A cafe

I’ve been vegetarian for almost 10 years now. At first our cafe also used to sell meat based foods and then we planned to change into a vegetarian cafe. It was a huge step with a lot of risks. Because in Nepal, most of the people still likes to eat meat on daily basis. At the beginning, we lost a huge number of customers, but slowly we had good flow of people and now our business is running well. Since one year we changed to vegetarian cafe and soon we’ll start only organic vegetarian food. Good for health.

Our cafe is located near the Swoyambhu stupa, also known as monkey temple. You can get a nice view of the stupa from the cafe and enjoy the best coffee in the town. We have designed our cafe in a library style where most of our books are based on spiritual and business. Book lovers can come over take a sip of coffee and read books in a very peaceful envronment. The ceramic cups and plates gives you the home like feeling.

We make all our bakery items in our own cafe

B.I.A cafe

We are the only cafe in our area to serve vegetarian foods and many of our customers loves our food, hospitality and ambience. We’ve been able to make a good relation with our neighbours and customers.

So, as a owner of BIA Cafe, I’m very proud of what we are doing here. Supporting us means, supporting the people in needs.

Thank You!
