Hi 😊 My name is Bea, short for Beáta. I am a self-taught home cook and recipe developer. I love helping people go vegan, teaching them how to cook, and showing them the benefits of adopting a vegan lifestyle.
I was born in Slovakia, but I consider myself an Earthling because I have lived and stayed long-term in several countries. I have two children, both of whom are vegan. I speak Slovak, Czech, English, Turkish, and Chinese – still learning.
Becoming vegan was inevitable for me. I never enjoyed eating meat, always had trouble handling eggs, and couldn’t stand the aftertaste of milk. To be honest, I never enjoyed eating until I did become vegan. I grew up in a family where animals were raised for food. I saw them get slaughtered, skinned, and processed. Despite seeing this from early childhood, I was never comfortable with it because I realized that animals were sentient. They had their personalities, friends, families, things they liked and didn’t like.
Then health came into play. My grandparents, heavy meat and dairy consumers, had cancers, multiple heart attacks and strokes, diabetes, and jaundice. These were the same people who were telling me to eat a certain way! If I wanted different outcomes, I needed to make changes.
In my late teens and early 20s, I had acne, inflammation, frequent migraines, and fluctuating weight. As a result, I started doing my research. I discovered that up to 80% of our health is constituted by the food we eat. I learned how various foods influence our organs and about their vitamin content. After going vegan, weight was not an issue anymore, my skin cleared up, and after a check-up, I was told that I had less than a 2% chance of contracting cancer. My body turned into a machine, and I became an amateur long-distance runner for 10 years. My stamina skyrocketed.
I also learned about the negative impact animal agriculture has on the environment. The most shocking was learning about the horrible conditions the animals were raised in and the mutilations they underwent. I did not want to be a part of this in any way.
I am grateful I can be vegan. I believe veganism helped me to become an energy medicine healer as nutrition is a vital part of this practice. I try to help people by sharing my recipes. I became a recipe developer – something, I never thought would happen. I try to raise awareness about the things that are happening to our fellow Earthlings. I am also a leader on the Challenge22 international team – a programme which helps people go vegan free of charge. My level of compassion and understanding is now on a whole new scale. This is something I will value forever.
